Guanacaste is the driest and most arid region of the country, and therefore, known for its rich climate, its incredible sunsets, its dry tropical forests, volcanoes and national parks.
It is also a province that for these same reasons, offers a large number of tours and activities, both ecotourism and adventure.
The options are as abundant as they are different!
Adventure activities
Among the adventure activities, rafting is undoubtedly one of the favorite activities. In Guanacaste there are two rivers, which flow all year round and which offer visitors two very different options to descend the river.
The Corobici River is slower and more voluminous, with deeper waters, so it does not have difficult and complicated white water rapids. It is ideal for admiring the scenic beauty and the flora and fauna in the forests along its banks.
The Tenorio River, unlike the Corobici, offers fantastic rapids, from class 2 to class 4. Its whitewater sections are technical, complicated and exciting. However, even a beginner can navigate this river, as our guides provide excellent induction training prior to the tour departure.
Other adventure tours in Guanacaste include zip lines or canopy tours, horseback riding, atv, canyoning, hiking, scuba diving, snorkeling and sport fishing.
Ecotourism activities
In Guanacaste there are also a number of activities that emphasize more on the natural beauty, both flora and fauna, and lack the adrenaline of adventure tours.
These tours include night hikes, scuba diving, snorkeling, exploration of national parks and private reserves, among them Rincon de la Vieja, Palo Verde, DirÃa, Santa Rosa and many other national parks.
One of the most popular ecotourism activities is undoubtedly the observation of sea turtles when they come to nest on some of the beaches of the province.
